Poor effort ladies, I wanted to see hair pulling!

Yesterday I had a day off from work because I had things to sort for my trip, the weather has turned absolutely stunning, I had caught up with all my work and in reality, I just felt like an R&R day. So at 9.45am Sarina and her Mum picked me up to attend the bi-annual 50-75% discounted beauty products sale. My God! The doors opened at 10am, we arrived at 5 to the hour to see a queue out to the road!! It was curving down the pathway! I was a tad nervous of what the chaos was going to be like inside, but was surprised after queueing for 30 minutes (and getting sunburnt in the process), that inside all the women were very orderly. No shrieking, mad-grabbing or hair pulling. To be honest I was a little disappointed. Where was the pre-Christmas, high intensity, estrogen filled chaos?!?!
Ater two hours in the store I managed to fill a box will essentials and leave very happy with my purchases.

I then headed out for a Thai meal with Sarina and some other friends, including the brother of Mr Christchurch (aka the traveller). Been thinking about him a lot lately. But lets put him to the back of the mind because in reality he lives too far away and is still with his girlfriend. Apparently he likes me though.

Tonight I’m off to my first Thanksgiving. I’m excited! I’m excited for pumpkin pie and the numerous other delicious vegetarian dishes that are being whipped up while I type this. I’m excited for a glass of wine on a Friday evening. And of course I’m excited to spend the evening with the lovely people that are there to relax, laugh and stuff their faces with me!

New Moon = pretty av.

Yesterday was a rainy Sunday, so I thought what a perfect day to go see the latest film in the “Twilight saga”, New Moon. I was wrong. The cinema was packed! People talked through it, giggled at the nakedness, moaned at the hot, naked men and ate their cinema snacks as loud as bloody possible!

Whatsmore, if you’ve read the books the film was pretty average. Sure,

hot look!

Jacob was sex-on-legs. But the rest was pretty lame and they missed heaps from the book!

Disappointing. I don’t think I’ll hold much hope for the next two films.

Today is a stunner here in Auckland, unfortunately I’m at work and not out enjoying it, but I’m in serious need of money for my trip away. I’m also in need of a pair of hot, red heels to go with my new black dress for Saturday night’s girls night. Because red and black look so good together! But if I don’t curb this spending I’m pretty sure I’ll be working the streets of Bangkok just to feed myself! Oh life can be so hard sometimes!

girlfriends, chocolate martinis and comedy shows in the city

Yesterday, like most days, I was Twitter-whoring when a message popped up from Joe and Jesse (aka my pub quiz buds) about Jesse (and Mark’s) stand-up comedy show, Romantic Comedy, saying that they had some tickets available for the show that night. I was originally meant to go to a girls night with my sister at a friends for some drinkies and spa night. But I quickly text her apologising and explaining that I had a chance to go see a Comedy show that night. Of course being the wonderful sister that she is she was excited for me and told me to go for it!

So I then quickly text my BFFs; Toni & Eileen, to check they were free and keen for a night of laughs. We met up at Toni’s place to carpool into the city and enjoy a couple of cocktails before the show began.

We loved the show!! So damn funny. We were all laughing the whole way through it. I was even singled out for my breasts by one of the comedians who serenaded me with a tune about my cleavage. They’re performing until Saturday – so make sure you get along to see them! It was a fantastic night out!

Today I’ve had a lazy-sick day at home. I woke up with an aching throat and neck. I had been waking up all night with fevers and shivers. I thought my flu (from my flu shot) was on its way out, but apparently not. Luckily today was just a two hour lecture at uni, so I didn’t miss out on much. My throat is still aching now, but I’m hoping an early night should cure me and I’ll be right tomorrow.

In totally random news; I cut up my credit card this afternoon. After some great advice from my friends last night, I decided it was time. I’m too naughty with my credit card and shopping sprees. I’m slightly scared though. I will miss my spending sprees for a bit, need to get out of the red!

Dress obsessed.

minidress_boots_mainThis winter season I am going for a new style. In the past, when I weighed a lot more, I wasn’t really into clothes and would end up wearing jeans and tops the entire season. But now with my new bod and boosted confidence I’m going for a style that, to be honest, suits me much more. The dress and tights combo. I LOVE it. I really like the femininity of the outfit. After all, I am a girly girl. I am slowly adding more and more different styled, patterned and coloured dresses to my wardrobe. Match them with some tights and boots and I feel dressed to impress! I also love the ease of a dress, one item – throw it on and it looks great!

My Mum keeps growling at me; “Bron! You’re a student, you can’t afford to keep buying dresses!” and my response is always the same; “Yes I know, but so long as I don’t have people chasing me for money, I technically can afford them.” Although, I do need to slow down on the spending really and save more for my Asia trip at the end of the year.

So now when ever I see a dress I can not resist trying it on. Hey, life is for living. You can’t take your money with you. Spend, spend, spend! Ha! Who am I convincing?

It's been a crazy week, with ACTUAL crazies in cameo appearances

I am tired. I am not going out and being social tonight. Tonight I think I’ll rent a season of Black Books and sit in my pyjamas and enjoy it. In my previous post I shared the list of events for this week. Typing them was tiring, but living it… exhausting!!

My sisters graduation was fantastic! She looked beautiful and the whole family was very proud. They paraded down the main road in Takapuna in all their gowns, with bagpipes playing, police escorts, the works! It was awesome.Â
My original plan was to leave for the UK and end up missing my graduation. But after attending my sisters and getting chills, I have changed my mind. I will definitely be attending my graduation in April. I think it’s great closure for finishing a degree – needs to be done!

After Allie’s graduation ceremony we headed out for lunch with my dad to celebrate at a Japanese restaurant. Very yum. Luckily I had organised to have the day off work with my boss, so in the afternoon I could relax a bit. Ended up helping mum plant a few trees. Then that night we went out to an Italian restaurant for dinner with mum to celebrate Allie’s graduation.

After dinner some friends hassled me into going out to the university bar for some drinks. So I finally gave in and met up with them. It turned out to be a good night, I was driving so only had a couple of drinks. But still a great night to catch up with them all.

Last night, Friday, I headed out for a few drinks with my sister and a group of her friends for celebratory drinks for her graduation. It was another great night! But just topped off my tiredness completely.

My week at work was a successful one, apart from earning great money by doing more hours, I’ve managed to catch up on a lot of my work load. The thing that’s taking me the longest is the company’s website. Website design can be very time consuming!

An entertaining moment at work on Thursday, when I was in the office by myself and a customer came in (I don’t know how I attract the crazies):

Mr Crazy: (looking straight at me) Are you eating an orange?
Me: Umm yes.
Mr Crazy: I wish I could still eat oranges, but they affect my feet.

WTF?! I know. Something to do with the acidity? And then I zoned out…

I must be off to shower and get dressed now. My sister, mum and I are off boot/shoe shopping today! Woo love it. I’m also off to brunch with the girls tomorrow morning. I hardly see my high school friends these days. So it’s wonderful to catch up on the goss at a Sunday morning brunch.
