Being a grown up is tough, but great friends help.

Overall I have had an amazing 4-day Easter weekend. However today, Monday, has been severely draining on the emotions. This morning my friend Louise and I went to the funeral for my friend Natalie’s baby. He was stillborn on Thursday morning. Absolutely heartbreaking. The ceremony was beautiful and I felt Natalie did so well throughout the whole thing. Everyone was crying, it was tough.

Also because Natalie is dating my ex’s best friend, I had to see my ex at the funeral too. (If you’ve been reading my blog long enough you’ll know that I ended mine and Rob’s relationship nearly a year ago [June 2008] – I was totally fine to see him, he just didn’t want to see me.) His parents were also there and came over to say hi and give me a hug, which I thought was lovely of them. I did however start to cry when his friends came over and hugged me. A big group of guys that I have not seen (I’ve seen a couple, but not all together) since we broke up. It made me tear up. Was all part of the day I think.

The highlights to the weekend were definitely the toga party at the university bar and a day at Toni’s farm in Warkworth. Louise and I headed up to Toni’s farm on Saturday morning for horse riding, quad biking and other general farm things like collecting chicken eggs and talking to cows. It was a great day, enjoying the fresh air and catching up on girly goss – even though we all see each other every other day. Haha.

The toga party on Thursday night was fantastic! I was a bit apprehensive of the whole sheet idea… but after we’d wrapped, tucked and attached the things to our bodies we all looked fantastic so the apprehension soon died off. We all had a fantastic night and us girls got a little show when a drunk Greek man lost his toga. The poor guy must have forgotten he was naked underneath. Some photos of the night below.

I’m off to frolic on my friend’s farm in Warkworth for a week with these lovely people and another 30 or so.

This photo was taken last time we popped up to the farm.

I can not wait; camping, drinking, friends, a paddling pool!!, fishing, quad biking, trips to the beach, camp fires, BBQing and of course New Years Eve at Matakana Highlife. Oh bring it on!

I hope everyone has a brilliant and safe New Years and I shall see you in 2009!
