It’s slowly approaching. I’m sure some of you think I’m making a huge deal about this but I am nervous! I had a short hair cut about five years ago, it was short – under my ears – it was awful. My boyfriend at the time proceeded to call me Pinocchio and ask if I “was a real boy?”. I cried. Arse.

This experience put the fear of short hair cuts in me. Five years later I’m ready to try again. It will not be cut to my ears again (WTF was I even thinking?!), I’ve narrowed it down to the four slightly similar cuts below. I’m hoping to end up somewhere in the middle.

Of course, this week my hair has been brilliant and carefree. Looking amazing everyday with no fuss! I think it knows it’s time is up…

What to pack?

As previously mentioned, I’m moving to London at the end of July. Moving. Not holidaying, or travelling for a few months, moving. Of course there’s the possibility that the place scares the bajeezus out of me and I’m back within a month. But I doubt it. From the amount of people I know there now, to the excitement of a new adventure I see myself being able to tough it out.

My big struggle though is what the hell do I take with me? It’s not like when I packed to
travel South East Asia for seven weeks; I really don’t think bikinis, flowy dresses, jandals and malaria tablets will suffice in London. Moving means having to work, which means packing work clothing, as well as casual and dressy outfits. But what about everything else I’ve collected over the past 27 years?? Cue a text conversation I had yesterday with a girlfriend who’s moving to Melbourne at the end of March:

So I had a thought. Vibrators. Do airport staff question them in your bag? Or do you not pack them when migrating?

Hahaha I have been wondering the same thing! Figured I might have to chuck them in the bin.

I said for her not to do that just yet, I would ask the twitters. Some responses I received:

Guy 1: Honestly? I’ve never had a major issue.

Girl: Check it in. Buried deep and with no batteries.

Guy 2: Just do carry on. Inflight entertainment.

All helpful responses. I guess the item would cause embarrassment more than terror. Battery-free makes sense to me. You wouldn’t want one of those bad boys to go off mid-flight. So we’re good to go.

So far my list includes; clothing (casual, work and dressy), shoes, jewelry, make up, laptop, camera, phone, and maybe a battery operated device.

Have I missed anything?

It has been one of those weeks. One you hope does not repeat.

Every week is a learning week. I never thought I’d be learning so much still at the age of 27. But no, I’m the Queen of learning from my mistakes. Except that I don’t actually learn from my mistakes, I just keep on making them until one hits me like a bus and I realise it was a huge mistake. I’ve learnt my lesson. No regrets, but sadly a bitter taste in my mouth. Like cold, awful coffee.

Of course the week has been full of positives too; I’m going to be spending my remaining weeks in New Zealand (see: moving to London) in my element, as a water baby. I have managed to lock a man into teaching me to sail, I have my second dive theory class next week (damn the technicals before actually getting in the water!!!) and I have my surf lesson next weekend.

This week has also been very successful money-wise. I don’t want to jinx it, I have no idea how it’s been such a money-luck week and no horoscope warned me but cash just keeps coming my way. Lets just say that London fund is well fattened like a Christmas goose!

This is a definite positive, as I see my spending being huge in London. How does one travel to the other end of the world with just a back pack of belongings and not expect to want to buy everything?!
