Oh neat!!
I have enjoyed February as well but thought that I should also blog a little more.
I'm pretty sure that I will do March but also use it as a prompt to write more - at least more often.

The biggest advice I was given when packing up (that I then didn't really listen to) was DON'T TAKE TOO MANY CLOTHES. Because really, if you are like me and love clothes - you end up buying more regardless of what you take. And you wear the new things (because they are new and fun and exciting) far more than the things you already had in your suitcase. And I'm not talking about a fortune spent on new clothes - you must remember you are going to the land of topshop and primark and 5 pound sweaters. A new wardrobe will not break the bank.

In saying that, take any hugely memorable outstanding pieces that you absolutely love. For me - it's my "weight loss" dress - the one that I bought for a huge sum of money that I couldn't even do up at the time. Now that I can - I plan to use it for many outings.

Classic pieces are a good idea too - I have a black, V neck, Icebreaker dress which will be coming with me - it can be dressed up (with heels and accessories), or dressed down (jandals) and worn practically anywhere. The fact that its no stink and doesnt crumple means its ideal to take in a back pack for a weekend away in Spain, or Greece, or somewhere else exotic (which of course, will happen extremely regularly I imagine hehe).

The other thing I would say to take is small momentos from home, those things that will make a room in a flat feel like "yours" without being too much. Maybe its a favourite but small piece of artwork (I have 3 photoblocks that my mum made me of photos she took at Tawharanui), take 10 favourite photos from home to put up in a frame, an All Blacks flag (if you are a rugger head and plan on going to Cardiff). It's actually these things that help keep that tiny bit of homesickness at bay. They aren't heavy, but they are often forgotten about.

Don't bother bringing too many shoes - again, weight is an issue. Don't do what I did and pay $75 in excess baggage as I was 2kgs over...and then discover that my (fucking travel) hairdryer and GHDs didn't work in Canada thanks to the different voltage (there's the extra 2kgs I paid for right there)...although I'm pretty sure that's not an issue in the UK. Makeup - it's cheap as chips in the UK so only bring the basics. Don't bother with too many toiletries - again, buy it all when you get there, or take mini's of everything to get you started.

I know it sounds like a huge setup cost doing all this - but I speak from experience. I just sent a 25kg bag of clothes back to NZ with my brother - all things that no longer fit or I hadn't worn once while travelling. Beginners mistake I guess!

Good luck with the packing hun, Can't wait to be in London with you!
