Blend it, baby!

This week every morning I’ve been drinking an adapted version of this recipe, which I found on Suzi’s blog for an amazingly good smoothie.

I altered the recipe a tad lot by leaving out the peanut butter, adding a small handful of blueberries, and just using unsweetened Greek yoghurt. I’ll also throw a kiwifruit in some days, when I’m feeling rebellious. Of course I don’t measure out all the ingredients; who has time for that? It’s not a cake! Just throw it all in the blender.

I have to say that I’m loving it! It’s so easy to prepare and I find myself enjoying it every morning and feeling full until lunch. When you’re on the weight loss train it can be difficult to keep things interesting and simple. Having to prepare and cook numerous different items can make those of us who are lazy give up too quickly. So I’m always happy to report when something is super simple and delicious and ultimately very healthy for you.

For those big chickens out there – you can’t even taste the baby spinach.

P.s. I’m on the hunt for an awesome smoothie takeaway cup, so if you know of one, please let me know!

  1. Glad you’re still going strong with ‘em! I’m going to get this travel cup – can’t wait to freak people out on the bus with the weird coloured smoothies!

  2. I have two tupperware shakers that I use. I only drink mine on the run once a week with early wednesday morning lectures. I have smoothies for breakfast every single day. love them!! Mine are made with yoghurt, trim milk, blueberries, LSA, Stablised Wheat Germ and a tiny amount of manuka honey.

  3. I love smoothies! And just got a juicer recently too. Green ones make you feel so virtuous :)

As for a cup, I usually use one of those shakers that you use for protein shakes, you can get them from the supermarket/pharmacy/health store for about five bucks.

Wanted to recommend the Tervis insulated cups. I have several and they’re the absolute best insulated cups I’ve ever owned. I get them at Bed Bath & Beyond with a coupon (the $5 off of $15 or 20% off of 1 item). They’re a little pricy, but worth it, because they’re amazing. Thanks for the altered recipe. Not a big peanut butter fan, so I’m happy to hear it can be excluded from the recipe. Spinach + peanut butter? No thanks ;)

  5. Ooooh, I should get into that! Something quick and easy for me to do in the mornings instead of skipping breakfast. I have found that even though I eat, I still get hungry after a couple of hours which isn’t good if you don’t get lunch till sometimes after 1pm!

  6. If you halve the amount of peanut butter, you can’t actually taste it (so long as you amp up the veges/fruit). I debated whether the peanut butter is actually even good for you?
