FIIIIIIIIIIIIVE DAYS! faark.

Just five days until I attempt to get my short legs whipping (jogging?) around Auckland. I’m nervous. Every time I think about this Auckland Half Marathon I feel like I may crap my pants (not so ladylike, I’m sorry). I’m also nervous of the pain I will be in after making the 21km trek.

I am, however, excited of the post-marathon celebrations. A bunch of us heading out for lunch, then drinks all afternoon and into the evening with more friends. It will be required to get rid of the pain I will be in!

I will be the one in the corner, laying down, sipping a huge cocktail from an even huger straw, so as not to move.

  1. Just a couple of tips you probably already know. Rehydrate properly after the run and don’t touch alcohol until you have rehydrated. Preferably don’t touch alcohol at all as it will inhibit your recovery.

Eat afterwards and your choice of food is important. A banana after finishing is good but an hour after the race, get some protein into your body. I sat in the bath and ate a protein cookie after my second half marathon.

Other than that, good luck and I’m sure you’ll do great!

  2. Good luck! Can’t wait to hear how it goes, I will be cheering you on from Welli!!!
