Cheers to increased blogging in the new year!

It’s been awhile huh? I am alive, promise. Just going through one of those phases where the blogging juices aren’t flowing.

Work has been crazy – although I have the best boss a person could ask for; as part of my Christmas present this year he gave me a company petrol card to use to fill my campervan I will be traveling around the South Island (New Zealand) in with my friend, Sarina. FREE PETROL! That is beyond the best prezzie! I will have to bring him back something good.

The social life has been far too hectic for words, which is fantastic! Some of the events include; dinner, gold class movies, pub quiz, baking days, making mulled wine and coffee dates.

There have been men in the equation, although nothing has turned serious – so we’ll see what 2011 brings!

OH!!! I WON AN IPHONE4!!! That certainly made my month of December a superb one! Then two days ago I won an iTunes voucher. My boss decided it should be split 50/50 as he’s convinced I won it on company time. I’m sure he’s right, but he has no proof, hehe. So now, because winnings always happen in three’s, I’m going to buy a lotto ticket for the first time in months. *fingers crossed*

On December 27th I am off to the South Island of NZ (the island south of the North Island – I know, we’re practical here in NZ) to travel for 18 days with my friend Sarina, in a bright, lime green campervan. Bets on which one of us snaps first! It should be amazing and I’m hoping to upload photos, quick blog entries as we go – but no promises.

2010 has been a tough year worldwide. Here’s hoping 2011 is much brighter, happier and sparklier for us all! Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year filled with booze, tasty food and laughs with friends and family! My Christmas celebrations start tonight and I am EXCITED!

I promise to blog far more interesting topics in 2011, my domain name renewed itself so I kind of have to, or it would be a waste of money.

B, x

‘Tis the season… for eating!

I always gain a couple of kilos at Christmas time. It’s inevitable and I’m over trying to stop it from happening. Christmas goodies are just way too good to pass up. My friend Eileen and I enjoyed a baking frenzy day yesterday. It started with a batch of banana muffins I whipped up before she arrived, not Christmasy – I just couldn’t bear to throw the browned bananas out.

Once she arrived, and after a mocha + muffin hit, we were into it. First up; pear, ginger and lemon Christmas mince pies. Because quite frankly, raisins RUIN fruit mince pies.

Pictures under the cut.

it was so painful, I couldn’t even finish my post race burger.

I did it.  I ran (and walked) the Auckland Half Marathon! Woooooooooo!

Me, overtaking the girl in black, yus!

I’m thrilled to be able to say I have completed a half marathon! I’m even more thrilled to be able to say I will never be putting my body through that crazy pain again. Oh, except childbirth? Yeah we’ll worry about that in a few years.

Post half marathon, and free beer. Free beer?! I know. Silly.

I’m happy to report that I have not been for a run since that day. I’m still playing sport, but running is officially crossed off my exercise list.
