To do before take off

There is so much I need to do before hitting the sandy beaches of Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos (do the last two have stunning beaches? – add that to the list – RESEARCH!)

  1. Get Thai (we don’t need a Thai visa) & Vietnamese visa’s
  2. Get required shots against disease
  3. Find out what shots are actually needed in #2
  4. Lose 6-8kgs
  5. Stop spending, and actually save some money!
  6. Organise a credit card as “back up”, aka CHEAP SHOPPING!
  7. Maybe #4 was too unattainable, try for 3-4kgs in 5 weeks (which includes Christmas, dear God.)
  8. Work out what I need to pack for 6 weeks of travel – suggestions welcome.
  9. Book in wax and hair appointments for week before take off - done, yus!!
  10. Research countries I am going to be visiting
  11. Learn a few Thai and Vietnamese phrases
  12. Buy an international plug adapter – no I am not taking my hair straighteners (it’s tempting though…), this if for phone, camera battery charging and iPod charging
  13. Find a couple of light chick-lit type books to take for the trip for on flights, beach etc.
  14. Build up a bit of a tan
  15. Update my iPod with summer, chillax tunes
  16. plus plenty more that I can’t think of right now…

As a side note, I have recently switched my alcohol beverage of choice from wine and beer to vodka, soda and lime to curb those extra calories, and can I just say… YUM! Why didn’t I make the switch earlier?! It’s my new drink, perfect for hot, summers days!

9 Thoughts on “To do before take off

  1. would definitely recommend getting the shots asap! I left it too long and got one of them a week before I left, and it takes 2-3 weeks to immunoconvert… would have been fine but guess it’s best to do it properly.

  2. ooh and agree with the vodka soda lime… in fact soda water’s great with anything! juice, wine (whites only), anything that you’d want to cut the sweetness (and calories). mango nectar’s great

  3. How exciting..! This thai girl I work with has been teaching me lots of phrases. So far (written as they are pronounced, not spelt!):

gym kung lung: vagina behind you
    dorlay!: liar!
    joow: dick
    ching-ching: seriously

Hopefully they help you along your trip..!
