Solutions for my recent failures, kinda.

I get asked quite often how my JamieO blog is going – yes, complete failure there. I’m going to go out on a huge tree branch and say it’s pressure. As soon as I have to do something, it’s no longer fun. I’m sure most people have the same tendencies… who wants more chores in life?!

Second failure, the 365 photography project blog. Once again, total CHORE. I lost interest about 14 days ago. Sure it’s a photo a day. But I like taking REAL photos, not just a random snap. No longer fun.

So my solution? Well my basic two loves are photography and food (fatty!!!!! I mean cooking really…).  So I’m combining the two in a new blog. With no rules as to how often I have to cook/snap photos. Just a free for all.

I will no doubt start a new (free) blog as I don’t want it all linked to this personal one and the JamieO blog is due to expire next month.

I mean, look how good those cupcakes look! Everyone likes snaps like that. That’s what I’m aiming to acheive and learn. Real food photography.

Woo-feckin’-hooo!!

I’m done. Finito. Fin.

University is friggin’ COMPLETE. Degree is under my belt. Crossing that one off the bucket list!

It’s been 4.5 loooong, painfully long, testing, frustrating, yet awesome years.

I have loved being a university student, the lifestyle is brilliant! Now I’m onto the real world… but am absolutely thrilled I got to experience and complete the student life. They say it’s the best years of your life, and so far I agree.

What could top it? Travel! Yeah baby, that’s what I’m planning next! After graduation of course… ;)

Less spark than a damp matchstick

Over the last two weeks I had four dates with the Intelligence Analyst. Umm yeah… end of story.

I just didn’t feel it, and maybe he didn’t either… At first I thought it could have been nerves, but no it shouldn’t take long to be relaxed around each other, and if I’m honest, after the fourth date I just wanted to get out of the car and run, but he tried to keep the conversation going. Awwwwwkward!

That was last Friday, it’s now Wednesday and I haven’t heard from him except a birthday text on Sunday evening around 8pm. So maybe I wasn’t for him either? I’m relieved really, nothing worse than one person being keen and the other trying to escape!!

Like a guy (#iii) who is currently texting me NON-STOP. He’s a one-night-stand from my past that I am not proud of. He’s a hell-no in my books and I told him that – too harsh? To most guys, yes, but this one doesn’t get it! He has text me five times since midday yesterday that I have not replied to, called once and even sent me a private message on facebook because “I don’t reply to his texts”. Ah yes buddy, hint much?

I’m over dating it’s not enjoyable right now.

I told my boss this morning that I was over men. He looked at me with wide eyes and asked;

“have you finally decided to date a girl?”
“Ah, no that’s not what I meant.”
“I don’t care, that’s what I’m telling my friends!!”

Dear Lord. Men.

some employees do ‘ave ‘em

I logged onto facebook to see this… way to kill my post-exam bliss!! haha

I can already tell that tomorrow will be a blast! At least I know he needs me. Yay for job security!

Insane dreaming.

I woke up crying this morning because an evil air hostess told me I couldn’t study for my Monday exam on the plane.

Exams make me crazy.

“Just call me Cupid!”

… exclaims my ever excited boss, completely thrilled with himself.

We have been snowed under at work lately with a tender we had to complete by 3pm today. We did it. But there were a few moments there when I wondered if we’d make it. Especially when at 9pm last night, while I’m out on a date (with an Intelligence Analyst for the police – more on him later, don’t want to jinx it!) and my boss rings because he can’t find a supporting document. Awesome. Luckily my date was all fine with it and I helped my boss out.

Today after my boss drove the tender to it’s submission box he arrived back in the office and the following conversation/interrogation occured:

Boss (32 year old male): So how was your overall feel of last night’s date?
Me: Yeah it went really well.
Boss: Did it end in a hug or kiss?
Me: Yes…?
Boss: Have you heard from him today?
Me: Yes…
Boss: Good! Well ring him and tell him you’re taking him out to a restaurant by the beach, my treat.
Me: Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?
Boss: It’s my treat for all your help with this tender. Now ring!
Me: Shiiit, you’re mean!
Boss: I know, ring!

So I did. He didn’t answer his phone.

Me: Look what you did, he doesn’t want to answer my calls!
Boss: He’ll ring.

A good twenty minutes later my phone rings.

Boss: Him?
Me: Yep
Boss: God, I’m awesome. Just call me cupid!

He is kinda awesome. So date two tonight! Woo!

It’s on!

Two words: sibling rivalry. My sister Allie and I are very close, but she has a major competitive gene that I seem to have missed out on, until now. Allie recently did the ‘Biggest Loser’ at work and lost a whole lot of weight to get down to my weight. Damnit. We have both now plateaued on 76kg. So while on our hour walk this morning around Lake Pupuke, we decided the best way to get to our goals of 65kg was to inspire and motivate (read: out-beat) each other.

It starts today. We both start at 76kg (plus some couple hundred grams), the same body shape and a whole lot of inspiration from each other.

Plus! We have this bloody half marathon to do in five months. What’s better than a 2-for-1?!

L.O.V.E.

Today an ex-blogger and internet bud (although I am determined to join her for a couple of wine’s one day soon…) of mine sent me an update email of her life. She’s fallen in love. I’m so happy for her! The best part… the story behind this love! Uh-may-zing! It’s what romance novels try to write, but simply can’t! I’d love to share it with you, but it’s not mine to share – I’m sure she will be blogging again soon and be buzzing to share it – I will post the link when it happens. All I will spill is that a one-letter typo, lead to her true love.

I’m a real sucker for a romance story and this one definitely won my heart! She’s a gorgeous girl and definitely deserves to be this happy.

Now I’m ready for my knight in shining armour, I’m sick of these retards in tinfoil.

a week of wins & fails

Soooooo, Bron, what have you been doing this past week?

Ummm yeah, it’s been busy:

  • finished & submitted an assignment a day early, that NEVER happens!
  • completed a Comprehensive First Aid course with a bunch of random crazies, for work – but I can save a life – I’m a “First Aider”
  • had a turkey dinner with 11 other guests (family & partners – I’m the only single one. awesome) for my Dad’s birthday
  • screwed up a few things at work, lets just say the guys will never trust me with a tape measure again, or with knowing the model of a boat.
  • got totally addicted to The Middle
  • attended pub quiz, and came 8th.
  • cooked a Jamie O fish pie
  • drank a couple bottles of red wine
  • played netball; we won 25-2
  • please note the above netball game was the only exercise I’ve done this week
  • signed up to run the Auckland Half Marathon in October
  • yes, the above is going to be impossible unless I get my ass into gear and start training!
  • and lastly, I think I have caught my boss’ “man flu”; I’m cold all the time, sneezing and occasionally coughing. Soooo not good!!

Loving random Thursday nights

a Miles Jupp (he sounded exactly like Hugh Grant!!!) comedy show, drinking with The Bayonets after their gig, arguing with Matthew Ridge (wanker!!!!) and watching an ex Shortland Street star’s mediocre covers band.
