I’m off to see Duffy live tonight with my friend Toni!! I am so stoked. I know she’s going to be amazing! I have been listening to her music constantly for the last couple of weeks so I am all ready to sing along!
I am sitting here trying to do my assignment (due Thursday) but my concentration levels are at a whole new low. What with my extreme tiredness, my excitement to see Duffy, my general cocktail of laziness and procrastination; and to top it off I’m still thinking of the man from Saturday night. Whom I have still not heard from. I know… technically it’s only day two. But I really like this one, so of course it’s typical that I don’t hear from him. The others in the past have text me the next day. But not this one goddamnit.
Okay take two… am going to try this assignment again!
*Don’t you just love my Duffy song lyric?! Totally relates to my man issue. I’m awesome I know, thanks. Lol.

There has been huge controversy the last few days over a very opinionated media presenter here in New Zealand. Of course if you’re a Kiwi you already know who I am speaking of, Mr Paul Henry.
I know what he said was appalling and the poor woman is probably not coping. But really the way the media and audience have come crashing down on him is all due to the PCness we now live in.
Mr Henry has always been a tad controversial. But that’s why so many people love watching him! He interviews politicians (an ex-politician himself), celebrities, sports people, and the general-Joe’s of New Zealand. I think he does a fantastic job. I just hope he hasn’t got himself into too much trouble with this one. I would miss him on the morning Breakfast show.

Kate’s tips:
- Don’t drink and bronze.
- Don’t drink and curl.
- Don’t drink and fry.
- Don’t drink and facebook.
- Don’t work after drink.
She broke them all, except number 5. I was the one stupid enough to do that. I think it will be a short day though…

The boys wanted a cameo on my blog. So from left to right; Iain, Kate, me, Alan & Patrick.
It was a late (or early: 4.30am) one at Kate’s place and the uni bar. Definitely a fun bunch to go out with, I’m sure we’ll do it again! I’m told we’ll be repeating it next Thursday after we hand in our assignment due that day. I really don’t think I’ll be out that late (early) again next week.
I did manage to pick up the uni barman. Lol. He had been kinda flirty the last couple of weeks everytime we went for a drink in between or after classes and even asked me for ID one day. My response was; “what? don’t you have to be 18 to be at uni anyway?“. Yes, that stumped him. Haha.
So we had some fun last night and he took my number. Typical huh? Just when I had sworn off men. Hmm we shall see.

In the last 10-12 days I have been absolutely slack on the exercise and healthy eating thing! Such a slacker. I mean, I did go for a run, play two games of netball and mow the lawn. But that’s not even close to the amount of exercise I was doing. I’ve also been craving every bad food I think of; think: chocolate, cheese and coke.
I do have a small excuse, that-time-of-the-month, but it’s not a real excuse, is it?
I am so damn close to my goal weight of 68kgs (I’m 74kg) that I can see it on the horizon. You’d think I’d be seriously amped and excited to get there!! Maybe the problem is that I keep changing my mind? Some days I think I’d like to just get under 70kg, then I want to be 68kg and then I decide I’d actually like to be 65kg.
I’m thinking I need mini-goals. My goal for the next four weeks is going to be to get under 70kg. That’s it. Keep the mind clear and just aim for the 60s. Then I’ll set the next mini-goal.
You’d think after losing just over 20kg, that 4kg would be a breeze?!
I KNOW!! It should be. God Bron, just get your ass into gear!

So I’m swearing off men for a bit. They’re hard work. Haha. I still have the cousin hanging around, he’s happy to please – but we’ll see. He’s really not boyfriend material, and lives 20-30 minutes drive from me in good traffic – it’s seriously not convenient!
So it’s just friends time. I do have male friends, but really I can count them basically as female friends. Sorry guys! You don’t count as men. Haha. Some have seen me naked, you hear about my men issues and give advice, you give me shit when I have blonde moments and listen to me grizzle when I have PMS. You’re fabulous! (Side note: none of them are gay, we just have an understanding between us all that works.)
Tonight I went to the cinema to see The Women with six girlfriends. Yes, I was skeptical. But seriously – it was the funniest movie I’ve seen in a while! It is definitely one to see with your best gal pals. Warning: do not take your man! He will not understand it and I’m sure you wont laugh as hard. I’m sure the rest of the cinema thought we were slightly insane laughing the whole way through it, but hey, when you’re with the right people you can’t help not having fun! Laughter is contagious.

Yesterday was simply; man day (you’ll see why I’m calling it man day soon enough). Typically in Auckland fashion, it was raining, as it always does when there are events on! We (8 of us; 4 female, 4 male) started the day off by meeting at Shane’s place at 12.30pm so we could re-group and mission it to the first public transport stop. By 1.30pm we had sorted ourselves out and were finally en route to the bus stop to start man-adventure day. After a short but nauseating trip into the city in a bus with a driver who though he was in a race with every other vehicle on the road we were off and heading for the train. Let’s just say that the train trip was just as scary as the bus. Are trains really supposed to make those noises? Luckily a couple of my friends used their brains and had purchased some chocolate covered nuts at the train station for us to munch on while enjoying the scenic train ride through the slums (that’s what it looked like!!) of Auckland.
We finally arrived at the Beer Festival just after 2pm, after a short, brisk walk to find a huge queue of people. Damnit. Luckily we are the unorganised type and hadn’t pre-purchased our tickets, this meant we could join the short queue of about ten people. Awesome! The guys were a bit more adventurous in trying new beers than the girls. But we gave most a go. One of the nicest was the Pure Blonde beer and a Japanese beer we tried that started with K… The most revolting was one that tasted like straight soya sauce. Oh god. So hard to get rid of the after taste.
By 5.30pm our team leader, Shane, was telling us we had to skull our last beer and run for the bus to get to our next destination. No one had any idea where we were catching out next bus from it was all guessing. Of course all us girls needed a toilet stop, which the guys were less than impressed with. This meant running for the bus. We picked a bus heading in the right direction and rode it for about 5 minutes when the bus driver told it was our stop. Yeah, obviously the wrong bus because we then had another hike to get to the actual stadium. Two sausage sizzle stops – we were starving! Only food we’d eaten all day – along the way and we finally made it into the stadium to see the Warriors play (rugby league).
Another two rounds of beer at the game, which tasted like shite after the real stuff at beer fest. But the beer-coat was in full action by then. So it was either freeze or drink the revolting stuff. The atmosphere at the game was awesome; I think most of the crowd had been at beer fest with us. NZ won – always a bonus.
The trip home was slightly painful. The beer wearing off. Running for the train in the last two minutes because we had dawdled out of the gates of the park. We seriously did a lot of exercise! I’m sure it counteracted all the beer. Of course the guys wanted to stop at a fast food spot for a burger. Ugh.
The bod is feeling seriously gross right now. This week is going to be a week of salad, fruit and water. God I need it.

Ok, so I know I haven’t posted a real entry in a while. I’ve been trying to cheat with small snippets at a time. Which I think, honestly, are more appealing. It’s not a huge essay length entry that makes your mind boggle when you see it. So, lets just say…
Life has got hectic.
I was drinking at the Uni bar yesterday afternoon (yes, not that hectic that I can’t spend FIVE HOURS in a bar with friends) talking about the upcoming week or so. We were discussing how coming up this week and a bit over, I do not have a day/night off. There is something happening every day/night. Of course this is on top of work and Uni, because they are just inevitable.
These same friends are upset over my blog move. They actually nicknamed me “bronnie.org” or simply “.org” and would call me that in person and when texting me. They are now obviously heartbroken that my new blog name is far too long to use as a nickname and is basically just hard for them to remember it! Haha. HI GUYS!! (if you’ve managed to remember my new blog name and found it!)
I did meet up with the cousin* on Wednesday night. I wont go into detail, we watched a movie at his place. I may elaborate one day soon… but seriously I think you’ve already picked up what happened.
So *ahem*, the week/weekend ahead involves, but is not limited to: beer festival, a rugby league game, catching trains & buses all over Auckland – so we can drink, meeting some girlfriends (who I haven’t seen in a year or so) for a drink tonight, a dinner party (with an English cop), a netball game, a pub quiz night, a movie night with a girlfriend, a girls night with cocktails and maybe try and see the cousin again.
I will write more about these later, probably in snippet form again. Because that’s my style.
*NB. The cousin is the cousin of Medical man. I know. I’m naughty. He’s just for fun.

Meeting famous New Zealanders is always great. But, when they recognise you before you recognise them?! Awesome! I am an avid Twitter fan (follow me?), and yesterday put up a status asking my followers to telepathically send me all their general knowledge to help me out with my pending quiz night. I got a reply from Jesse Mulligan and Joe Cotton from the NZ radio station, More FM, asking for details about quiz night. They were keen to go along too.
And they did come. I was at the bar ordering a beer (summer beer – very light, promise!) when a tall guy behind me asked; “are you Bronnie?”. Shock. haha. It was awesome to talk to them! Very lovely people and hopefully we’ll see them down there another night!
In other news… I’m off to see ‘the cousin’ tonight. Just keeping it casual. We will see what happens!
